United Carbon Projects (UCP) was established in November 2007. UOP and UIC owns 51% of the company's shares.
UCP’s aim is to develop sound environmental protection initiatives at a local level. Specifically, the company is working on reducing the greenhouse gas emissions that cause climate change, as detailed in the Kyoto Protocol ratified by Kuwait in 2005.
UCP conducts technical and financial research to identify viable carbon emission reduction methods. It then uses the results of its work to offer technical and financial advice to organizations aiming to reduce their carbon footprint.
In line with Kuwait's policy which supports and encourages local expertise to join the private sector, United Carbon Projects aims to develop and train local talent to support it in its environmental mission.
